Change Any Password Without the Existing Password

Have you ever needed to change the password of an account but didn't have the existing password? Yep, this happens all the time and it can be really frustrating. I am always forgetting passwords on old accounts, but luckily they can be changed without the existing password.

It is pretty simple to do, but be sure to only use this for good doing. This applies to Windows XP.

Open the command prompt: Start->Run, then type "cmd"

If for example, the username is joe, then type the following (put the name in quotes)

net user "joe" *

You will then be prompted to enter a new password for this user and to confirm the password. Then you are done.
