Password Lockout Settings

There are a few simple password management features in Windows XP that will give you that bit of added security.

In Windows XP (and later versions), you can do a few things relating to passwords and logins. You can set minimum password length required, number of login attempts before lockout and the lockout duration. So today we will just look at how you can set the lockout duration and how many login attempts to allow.

The reason for doing this is it stops brute force attackers from attempting multiple logins to determine the password. By setting a lockout duration of x amount of time, it makes things more difficult for hackers/crackers and anyone else that wants to get into your account.

To change the password lockout settings:
